Service and food has been declining for some time. Half Price Wednesdays is the only time I don't feel like I'm getting less for more. I'm done. Stick a fork in it.

Yeah! yeah! Let's go there!

I lurrrrve me some Meridian Room. With it's chill vibe, great selection of hard-to-find beers and holy-shhh-this-is-good food, this place ranks as one of my faves.

The bar sits in a coolio part of town called Exposition Park. Open the doors to find a dim-lit funky space complete with artsy walls and maybe even some artsy peeps.

Please come when you are hungry. If you're not hungry, fake it. Wednesdays are the best for food when they offer 1/2 off specials. The hummus is good to start out with, but save space for the killer Turkey Brie sandwich made with apple slices. The cheese platter will also make you do the happy dance.

As for brews, Meridian offers a variety of drafts to choose from including Chimay White, Ace Pear Cider and of course Guinness. They have the usual suspects and Stella Artois to boot.

So before you hit up Bar of Soap or the Amsterdam Bar, stop by Meridian for their yummy mix of dranks and food. If you're out on Greenville, check out their brother/sister bar Libertine. Have the cheese plate.

I would have given this place 4 stars but our waitress suuucked. i went with 3 girlfriends and we were all very polite so i dont get the bad service.

On Wednesdays they serve all their food at 1/2 price! I got the Turkey Brie sandwich with sweet potato fries with an Ace Pear. Very very good. I also dug the dive bar atmosphere and it was refreshing to get out of stuffy uptown and enjoy a more relaxed venue.

so go on Wednesday and keep it causal in jeans or your favorite muumuu. oh and be prepared for possibly slow service...

had the veggie burger with a spicy but not terribly so jalapeno cream soup.  Really tasty and the perfect amount of food.

I was a little disappointed in their beer selection but it was extensive enough you should be able to find something to suit your fancy.

Bartenders were friendly and helped me make a selection since they didn't have what I normally drink.

Great spot to be a "regular."

ohhh, half price food on Wednesday and great specials the other nights of the week.

The Meridian Room is a good time anytime. It's great for lunch and a fun place to hang out with friends at night. The venue is always decorated with local artwork and my favorite detail is the soaring, red ceiling. The bartenders are friendly and always quick to serve up. My favorite times to go are on Wednesdays where the food is half price (contrary to the usual bar food, Meridian Room's is gourmet-ish and good) and on Saturdays where you'll always find a fun crowd and folks singing Journey on the karaoke machine.

This place has a very respectable beer list, but don't plan on going in unless you have a t-shirt with a funny slogan or design. It's also acceptable to wear hats that you can't pull off. (fedora, derby, etc)

Upside:  Includes great beers and extensive karaoke selection Thursdays ,

Downside: Douche bag Dallas hipsters types.

Great place. Great beer and bartenders with some beer knowledge! Has one of my favorite sammiches - Turkey Brie I believe is what they call it.

Went to the Meridia room yesterday for happy hour.  Got there at about 4:30pm, it was pretty dead but that's perfect for me because I wanted full access to my drinks! hehe  they have a good beer selection and of course mixed drinks.  They also have that pineapple infused vodka...where the vodka sits in a jug of pineapple until it tastes like pineapple juice and you can drink it straight.  Our bartender was cool and funny as well.  And the food was well above average.  I had the turkey, apple, and brie sandwich which was excellent.  My friend had the grilled cheese and she loved it.  Nice smoky dive feel, like you found a bar that no one knows about yet...probably because it was early and not packed yet.

The Meridian Room has a great selection, GREAT food, and seems to be growing quite popular, especially because of it's half-price food on Wednesdays (AWESOME deal).

Good music, great drink selection (my fave: the Scza), good atmosphere.

It IS in a semi-sketchy part of town, but I've never encountered anything scary after going there for about five years.

I've missed this place ever since I moved. This was my favorite bar, and I'm still looking for something comparable in Austin.

There are lots of good beers, the mojitos and other mixed drinks are delicious, the servers are cool, and the music selection is great. I still have cravings for the turkey and brie sandwich and sweet potato fries.

The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the homeless people hanging out in the parking lot.

Excellent beer list. Pretty good service. Lots of nasty things written on the bathroom walls. Hey, this is my kind of bar!

This was a great pick by SD Yelper Lyn P. and made even more fun by the addition of Dallas Yelpers Joseph B. and Francesca L., along with some of their pals.

Also, I got to see Joe drain an entire bottle of Newcastle in less than 5 seconds flat, no joke. Good times, good times.

I've been here several times before but I'm just now writing about it since I came here more recently for the UYE. State fair traffic wasn't bad at all unless you know your back roads.

Wednesday fortunately is 1/2 price food. I wasn't too hungry when I came, but I tried the Portabella Fries  while I was here. I can tell you that since it was dim lit inside I thought it tasted really good and what not, but after my friend took a picture with a flash it suddenly didn't look so good.

Beer selection is pretty wide. I counted about 74 different beers on the menu and they have several more on the chalk board depending on season I guess.

Also Mondays they have happy hour draughts,  Wednesdays 1/2 food, Thursday Scaraoke, and Brunch on Sundays

i'm clearly not hipster enough to be there, but i love it.  the food is good, the drinks are strong (they even give me cucumber for my hendrick's gin).

sometimes i'll get a crabby waitress but that's to be expected.

it's tough to get a table wednesdays for half price food, so get there early or late.

seriously. so few places in this city, the meridian room has filled a much-needed gap. Dig: unusually accomplished and often-rotated artwork on the walls. many of the bartenders and servers are very talented art dorks, who can turn anything into a sculpture, be it a simple bar napkin or an unsolicited conversation about bavarian ales. unfortunately, the word is out on this little den, where we used to be able to meet and actually listen to karaoke selections that don't play on the radio. the meridian room is also the lucky haunt of "the naked guy."

ok, there is this very ordinary chubby creep who used to model for my studio drawing course at university, who has become famous for just taking all his clothes off at bars around town. it is only halarious. it happens like this: one minute you are talking to this totally non-assuming, hamburger-eating, comb-over car salesman, and the next minute, you have this completely dumbfounded look of mixed fog and bewilderment. there he stands: draught beer in hand, talking about airline miles and Delta Gammas in his clumsy but proud birthday suit. awesomeness.

yes, the portobello mushrooms provide the best cure for munchies in town, but for those who aren't tokin' on weeknights, the seared-tuna sandwich is pretty special. wednesday night is half-price menu night, but thursdays will give you your best shot at actually meeting someone with a college degree.

Meridian Room has the best drink specials for brunch that I have found. You can get nice and toasted for very cheap. The Cajun Eggs Benedict are greatness, and you can start with a fruit plate. You have to soak up those Mojitos with something . . . and get a mojito. They are awesome and much better than Cuba Libre's.

Easily one of my favorite places in Dallas. Good vibe. Always a nice rotation of art on the walls. The food is great and reasonably priced. I recommend the bleu cheese burger or slow roasted pork. Vegetarian friendly menu options. It's a nice place for Sunday brunch. When we can't decide where to go, Meridian Room becomes our default.

Thursday Scareoke.  The Skza, which my friends insist on calling Awesome in a Glass.  The polenta fries.  The music.  The parking.  The eclectic crowd.

This is my favorite bar in Dallas. They have a huge selection of beer, pretty much anything you want, they have it. They also have great food, the portobella fries are to die for! One of my favorite brunch spots as well. The veggie eggs benedict are awesome and they make a mean bloody mary.

I've been wanting to come here for awhile, but it took a UYE to get me motivated to actually go here. I dealt with the state fair traffic with ease, found a parking spot and walked in and instantly thought the place was cool. It's got that trying-not-to-be-too-hipster vibe to it.  I sat down at the end of the bar to wait for fellow yelpers to show up, got a Stella on tap and perused the food menu. It was Wednesday night, so that meant half price food. I chose the cheese plate where you can choose three cheeses from a list. I chose a couple of safe ones - brie and chevre, and then manchego for option three. When my food came out, it was on a cutting board. The cheeses were accompanied with green apple, pear, carr's crackers, a few slices of baguette, and some mini pickles and onions. I tried all sorts of different combos - of course the brie and apple was a winner. Surprisingly, the manchego on pear was pretty good too.

By the time I was finished with my food, my fellow yelpers showed up, so we moved to a table. We all drank a bunch more. They have a really good selection of beers and specialty cocktails. I tried the Pineapple Gimlet (with pineapple infused vodka) and the Pimm's Cup (Pimm's with ginger ale and a slice of cucumber.) I really dug on those Pimm's Cups.

I'm definitely coming back - that Turkey and Brie sammich is calling my name.

The kitchen is open late (11 on schoolnights; 12 midnight Friday and Saturday), which makes it a great place to dine before Dallas Summer Musicals and concerts at Smirnoff Amphitheater or get dessert and drinks after a Dallas Opera performance across the street. The menu includes fine fare for vegetarians (except the soup, which has chicken broth). Sunday brunch is delicious (especially gingerbread pancakes) and drink specials are cheap. Thursday night Scaryoke D.J. Mr. Rid draws a loyal, highly entertaining group of regulars who followed him here when the nearby XPO Lounge closed. And Wednesday night, people lurk like vultures awaiting a seat to eat half-priced food. That said, it's a bar, so unlike Dallas restaurants, which have banned cigarettes, Meridian Room has a very smoky dining area. The parking lot in back is also desperately in need of new pavement. And during the month of October, traffic for the State Fair across the street makes this venue almost impossibly inaccessible.

I had heard really good things about the food here, and we went about 50% last night.  Good beer selection, but not cheap.  The three chees grilled cheese was excellent and the cheese board was nice, but the mozzarella sandwich was not that impressive, nor was the chicken sandwich.  I liked the house salad, though.  I am excited about trying the Libertine which is the sister bar on Lower Greenville, I hear the mac and cheese is to die for.
